What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?

GEO, or Generative Engine Optimization, is the practice of optimizing your visibility inside the answers of generative engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Grok. Where SEO aims to rank a page in a list of links, GEO aims to get your brand cited, recommended and correctly described inside the synthesized answer the AI generates.

How is GEO different from SEO?

SEO optimizes a ranking of ten blue links on a results page. GEO optimizes a single answer: the assistant doesn't return a list, it makes a recommendation.
